Antenatal care, visit by visit
A healthy pregnancy still needs regular review. Antenatal visits track your blood pressure, weight and blood tests, check your baby's growth, and pick up problems such as gestational diabetes or rising blood pressure while they are easiest to manage.
Dr. Deepthi Raidu sees women from the first visit onwards at Sharada's Urban Clinic in Madhura Nagar. Ultrasound scans and blood investigations are arranged on site, so most check-ups do not need a separate trip.

Scans are for your baby's health
Pregnancy scans check your baby's growth and wellbeing. Determining or revealing the sex of a foetus is a criminal offence in India under the PCPNDT Act, 1994, and is not done.
Planning the birth
How your delivery is planned
Normal vaginal delivery
Many women can plan for a normal delivery. Your pregnancy history, your baby's position and how labour progresses all shape the plan, which is discussed with you well before your due date.
Caesarean section
When a caesarean is the safer choice for you or your baby — planned in advance or decided during labour — the reasons are explained plainly, so no decision is made over your head.
Delivery in hospital
Deliveries take place in hospital, not at the clinic. Where you will deliver is agreed during your antenatal care, so there are no surprises on the day.
In pregnancy, call straight away if you notice

Pregnancy care questions
When should I book my first pregnancy visit?
As soon as you have a positive test — ideally in the first trimester, the first twelve weeks. An early visit confirms and dates the pregnancy and starts the blood tests and supplements that matter most early on.
Will I be told the sex of my baby?
No. Revealing the sex of a foetus is a criminal offence in India under the PCPNDT Act, 1994. Scans are done to check your baby's growth and wellbeing only.
Can I choose between a normal delivery and a caesarean?
Your preferences are part of the conversation, but the plan rests on what is safest for you and your baby. Dr. Deepthi Raidu explains the options and the reasons behind any recommendation.
